Watch: FMR's Dr. Julia Leone presents at BeeCon 2024

FMR's Pollinator Biologist Dr. Julia Leone presented preliminary pollinator research findings to hundreds of experts from across the globe as part of BeeCon 2024.

In her talk, titled "Habitat Assessments for Bumble Bees in Minnesota Restored and Remnant Prairie," Julia outlines early findings from bumble bee, flower and vegetation surveys undertaken during the 2024 monitoring season. All of this work took place at active FMR protection and restoration sites, and is funded by a grant from the Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund as recommended by the Legislative Citizen-Commission on Minnesota Resources.

Keep in mind the results are preliminary, and could change as more data are collected and assessments are completed. We'll share more in our enews once she and her team have wrapped up their analysis in early 2025.

Julia was one of 39 researchers from six continents that presented at BeeCon 2024. You can watch her talk above, or find it on YouTube.
